Devlog #14: Sound Implementation


The Greywake now has full audio.

What's been added:

  • Ship hum ambient - Constant low background audio (15% volume) that plays while aboard the Greywake. Stops when you disembark.
  • 17 contextual sound effects - The AI GM triggers audio based on narrative events: fold jumps, airlock cycles, weapon fire, equipment installation, credit transactions, and more. 
  • TTS narration - All narrative text has the option to be read aloud.

Picture this: you hear the ship humming beneath you. You plot a jump to another sector. The fold drive powers up—you hear the rising mechanical whine. Reality tears with a sound like tearing fabric. The TTS narrator describes the jump as stars stretch into threads of light.

Then you arrive.

You hear docking clamps engage with a metallic clunk. Air hisses as pressure equalizes. You disembark.

The hum fades from your speakers.

And in that silence, you notice: you're not home anymore.
